Trezor Suite | Trezor Desktop: Desktop and Browser Access Explained

Explore Trezor desktop software with a guide to desktop and browser access. Learn how the companion app fits into your hardware wallet workflow.

Desktop app vs. web version

Trezor Suite comes in two flavors, and the difference matters more than it first appears.

AspectDesktop appWeb version
InstallationDownloaded and installed on your computerRuns in a browser, nothing to install
Exposure to browser risksLower — isolated from browser extensionsHigher — shares the browser environment
ConvenienceLaunch like any appJust open a page

The general recommendation is to use the desktop application. A dedicated program is less exposed to malicious browser extensions and to some categories of phishing than a web page is. Whichever you choose, the golden rule is the same: get it from the official source, never from a search ad or a link someone sent you. We cover exactly how on the Getting Trezor Suite page.
