Common mistakes and how to avoid them
- Downloading from the wrong place. Fake wallet apps are a leading cause of crypto loss. Always start at trezor.io and verify the download.
- Storing the seed digitally. A photo, a note file, or a cloud document can all be stolen. Keep the seed offline.
- Ignoring the device screen. The whole security model depends on you reading the address and amount on the device, not just on the computer.
- Skipping the test transaction. A small first transfer catches setup mistakes cheaply.
- Setting a passphrase you don't fully understand. It's a great feature, but forgetting a passphrase is permanent. Learn how it works before relying on it.
