Getting started, step by step
At a high level, first-time setup looks like this. (The app guides you through each step in detail.)
- Get the software from the official site. Download Trezor Suite only from trezor.io. See our safe download guide.
- Connect the device. Plug in the hardware wallet and let Suite detect it.
- Install or confirm firmware. A new device installs official firmware; Suite verifies its authenticity.
- Create a new wallet. The device generates your keys and displays the recovery seed.
- Write down the recovery seed. On paper, offline, and store it somewhere safe. Never photograph it or type it into anything.
- Set a PIN. Choose a PIN you can remember but others can't guess.
- Receive a small test amount. Verify the address on the device, send a small amount first, and confirm it arrives before moving larger sums.
