Desktop app vs. web version
Trezor Suite comes in two flavors, and the difference matters more than it first appears.
| Aspect | Desktop app | Web version |
|---|---|---|
| Installation | Downloaded and installed on your computer | Runs in a browser, nothing to install |
| Exposure to browser risks | Lower — isolated from browser extensions | Higher — shares the browser environment |
| Convenience | Launch like any app | Just open a page |
| Recommended for | Most users, especially long-term holders | Quick checks, or machines you can't install on |
The general recommendation is to use the desktop application. A dedicated program is less exposed to malicious browser extensions and to some categories of phishing than a web page is. Whichever you choose, the golden rule is the same: get it from the official source, never from a search ad or a link someone sent you. We cover exactly how on the Getting Trezor Suite page.
