What Trezor Suite actually is
Trezor Suite is the official software application built by SatoshiLabs to work alongside Trezor hardware wallets. If the hardware wallet is the vault, Trezor Suite is the control panel you stand in front of: it shows your balances, builds transactions, manages accounts across different cryptocurrencies, and exposes the security and privacy settings of the device. Crucially, it does all of this without ever holding your private keys itself. The keys are generated and stored on the physical device, and every sensitive action has to be confirmed on that device's own screen.
That separation is the entire point. Ordinary software wallets keep your keys on a phone or computer that is constantly online and therefore constantly exposed. A hardware wallet moves the keys offline into a dedicated device, and an app like Trezor Suite gives you a comfortable, human-friendly way to interact with that device without weakening the isolation that makes it secure in the first place.
Trezor Suite replaced the older browser-based "Trezor Wallet" interface. Where the old tool ran mostly inside a web page, Suite is available as a standalone desktop program for Windows, macOS, and Linux, as well as a web version. The desktop application is generally the recommended way to use it, for reasons we'll get into below.
